Klager PTO asking local businesses for donations

For the first time, the Klager Parent Teacher Organization (PTO) is asking local businesses for help. As their annual Fun Run draws near, the PTO is looking for both monetary and prize donations in the form of goods or coupons and are hoping that area business can help them help out Klager Elementary’s kids. The Klager PTO is a 501(c)3 non-profit organization and all donations are tax-deductible.

The Fun Run is the PTO’s only fundraiser (as long as their yearly goal is met.) Each child is tasked with raising $50 in pledges in support of their participation in the Fun Run, a fun, music-filled afternoon on the high school track which this year is scheduled for Wednesday, October 5th.

In previous years, our school of less than 400 students has raised over $12,000 for the Klager PTO. Donations come in all shapes and sizes. Kindergartners through fourth graders bring in pennies, nickels and dimes from their piggy banks. Every little bit counts. The funds are then given directly back to the school and our community in the form of scholarships, field trips, assemblies, playground upgrades, funding for Klager’s reading program, Math & Science Night, our annual Senior Citizen Luncheon and so much more!

Throughout the fundraising period, incentive prizes are rewarded to students for participating. Prizes include small trinkets, coupons and entry into a Grand Prize drawing. Last year’s grand prize was an iPod Shuffle. In addition, each classroom that meets its goal receives 10% back from their total raised. That money is then used to buy classroom supplies, books and has even gone towards additional field trip activities. Every year that the PTO goal is met, the entire school is rewarded. Last’s year goal of $13,500 was met and every student enjoyed a crazy hair, pajama, popcorn day!

“By contributing to the success of our only fundraiser throughout the school year, we can lower the minimum pledge amount needed for each student in order to reach our goal,” stated a PTO representative.

Please contact The Klager PTO at klagerpto@gmail.com or Jill Croghan at 734-368-2416 if you are interested in supporting the children at Klager Elementary by donating.
