Manchester Community School Foundation’s 2nd Annual Family Trivia Night

Families and friends from near and far gathered Saturday night at the Freedom Township Hall, to vie for a coveted “TRIVIA NIGHT CHAMPION” t-shirt. The Manchester Community Schools Foundation hosted their second annual Family Trivia Night, to raise money for grants and program support for the school district. Prior to the event, students across the school district were asked to submit questions, and the kids came through with questions about history, literature, and science that at times left adults scratching their heads.
Participants entered as teams with names like “Anonymous,” “The Llamas,” “The Firecrackers,” and “The Compound.” For people considering joining the event in the future, it is not necessary to come with a team, as smaller teams generally welcome last-minute additions. Questions were divided into six rounds, and answers were submitted in writing and scored by judges. The team with the highest score earned during each round was allowed to choose prizes from a small prize table, and the team with the highest score at the end of the evening won the t-shirts.
Jacki Bonner, a MCSF Trustee, fielded a team that included family and friends that drove in from out of town. She noted, “It was fun getting together with friends for a good cause. And you just never know who the winner will be until the end.” This time around, “Anonymous,” a team that had been in 3rd place for the first four rounds came in strong at the end and took the prize. Participants also enjoyed pre-ordered pizzas or homemade pretzels and cheese, along with an assortment of snacks.
In addition to the participant fees, local businesses and groups were sponsors of prizes and rounds of trivia. Sponsors included Edward Jones, Worth Repeating, Healthy Smiles Dental, Exhale Yoga, Manchester Middle School PTSA and Klager PTO, Stockwells, Manchester Eye Care, Manchester Soccer Association, Greene Manufacturing, Wolf’s Westside, the Bruestle Family, Clark Professional Compounding Pharmacy, LaRock Dental, Friends of the Manchester District Library, and Manchester Pharmacy.
Recently, the MCSF added online payments as a way for patrons and donors to send money, and to pre-pay for events like Family Trivia Night. People interested in becoming patrons can find the MCSF website via the main page on the manchesterschools.us website, under the tab “About Us.” 100% of donations and patron fees go back to school grants.
