The 2017 Washtenaw County Senior Resource Guide is now available online and in print. The free guide provides information for a variety of services, particularly for low-income seniors. Services include everything from housing information and chore and maintenance help to substance abuse support and emergency services. The 2017 guide is made possible through the continuing partnership between Catholic Social Services of Washtenaw County and the Washtenaw County Office of Community and Economic Development (OCED).

“OCED is able to impact the lives of Washtenaw County residents through critical partnerships like this,” said Andrea Plevek, Director, Washtenaw County Office of Community and Economic Development. “With the population of older adults growing rapidly, it is critically important to share these resources through mediums accessible to seniors as well as the caregivers and social service providers that support them.”

This year, 12,500 resource guides will be distributed to older adults through non-profit organizations, medical and housing centers, businesses and area locations frequented by seniors.

“While our Senior Services Department provides comprehensive services to area seniors; the number one request we receive from community organizations is for the Senior Resource Guide,” said David Garvin, Interim President of Catholic Social Services of Washtenaw. “This is our 19th year and demand seems to increase, so we are pleased to work with the Washtenaw County Office of Community and Economic Development to serve so many community residents.”

An online version of the directory is available at www.csswashtenaw.org/seniors/ and www.BlueprintforAging.org. Manchester Community Resource Center director Laura Seyfried stated that she be getting copies the print version in the next couple of weeks and will have them available at the Manchester CRC office located at 410 City Road.image001
