Annual Ice Skating Party in Chi Bro Park canceled

The Mens Club announced last week that they decided at their most recent meeting to cancel instead of postpone this year’s Ice Skating Party in Chi Bro Park, originally scheduled for January 21. Mens Club member John Stedman stated, “The weather has not been helpful.”

The weather had been working against possible ice rink creation which takes at least two weeks of continually below-freezing weather. Leading up to the 21st, there were almost no consecutive days that temperatures did not rise above 32F, and on the 21st, the day the party was scheduled for, temperatures reached a high of 57F. The forecast shows much cooler weather for the next week or so with temperatures creeping back up to able freezing as the month progresses.

This annual event was postponed and then canceled last year as well, because of warm temperatures.
