Twenty-nine Manchester students in grades 2 through 5 participated in Science Olympiad this year and they had some pretty stiff competition. They competed with students from 42 schools from across the county! Manchester fielded teams in seven different events: Feathered Friends, Circuit Wizardry, On Target, Photon Phun, Water Rockets, To Infinity and Beyond, and Mystery Architecture

Two of our fifth grade event teams received honorable mention medals for being in the top 9! Bodi Foulke, Will Kaufman, and Kailyn Demetrio participating on the Water Rockets team and Will Kaufman participating in On Target. Head coach for Manchester, Tessa Gallinat, stated, “Competition was fierce, and even though 2nd-4th grade teams were not recognized with medals, they should be very proud!” Although they didn’t qualify for medals, Manchester had 3rd and 4th grade teams in the top 10, and 2nd and 3rd grade teams in the top 15.

Gallinat stated, “There were many successes to celebrate, and lots of proud faces when our kids came out of their events knowing they’d done well. Throughout the long and hectic day, I saw courage, sportsmanship, cooperation, and kindness, as well as confidence in themselves and what they’d learned.”
