Enjoy this summer’s ice cream socials

Beginning in June and continuing into August, several area churches will be hosting their ice cream socials. You can have your choice from the many delicious food items that are offered that might include beef barbeque, hot chicken sandwiches, hot dogs, German and American potato salads, coleslaw, baked beans, macaroni & cheese and several beverage options. The meal is then topped off with a variety of homemade cakes (some also serve pies) and a generous serving of ice cream.

Often, there will be a bazaar or country store featuring homemade baked and craft items and, for the younger set, a “fish pond.” And at every social, fine fellowship abounds.

The socials begin anywhere from 4:30 or 5:00 p.m. and run into the early evening.  Watch for each church’s publicity or give them a call. Invite your friends, bring a carload and enjoy. The schedule is below.

Thursday, August 3 – Emanuel United Church of Christ, 324 W. Main St., Manchester
