Obituary: Frank Tomko
His Legacy… Frank Andrew Tomko, age 93, passed away Tuesday, September 19, 2017. He was born on July 6, 1924 in West Liesenring, Pennsylvania to John and Anna (Solop) Tomko, Jr. Frank was married for 66 years to the love of his life, Florence Vacek, whom he married on September 7, 1946 at St. Mary Roman Catholic Church in Manchester, Michigan and she preceded him in death on April 4, 2013. Frank proudly served in the U.S. Army during WW II in Normandy and Rhineland, receiving a Purple Heart. He was a resident of Manchester for 70 years and was a member of St. Mary Roman Catholic Church and Knights of Columbus. Frank loved to go to the casino, fishing and gardening. He was a meticulous carpenter and did wood carvings. He will missed by all who knew him.
His Family… Frank will be missed by his children, Barbara (Chris) Stoll, Linda (Larry) McGee, Patricia (John) Wynn and Frank Tomko, Jr., nine grandchildren, ten great-grandchildren and one great-great granddaughter. Of John and Anna’s seven children, he was the last survivor. He is preceded in death by his parents, his wife Florence, a granddaughter, and a grandson.
His Farewell… Frank’s family and friends gathered Sunday, September 24, 2017 at Borek Jennings Funeral Home, Manchester – Legacy Event Center where a Rosary was held at 7 pm. His Community Farewell was held on Monday, September 25, 2017 with a Mass of Christian Burial at 11 am at St. Mary Roman Catholic Church, Manchester. Rev. Fr. Bosco Padamattummal served as celebrant. Burial followed at St. Mary Roman Catholic Cemetery, Manchester. Memorial contributions may be given to family for future designation.
