This toddler and preschool play structure at Kirk Park will be completed and ready for active play within a few weeks!

An Eagle Scout project soon to be completed by Scout Joseph Grebe, will provide additional play equipment at Kirk Park for toddlers and preschoolers.

Equipment especially for younger children was seen as a need in the Manchester Village Parks Commission long range planning, and Grebe stepped up just in time to get the structure completed in time to receive his Eagle Scout badge.

Excavating was completed by the village Department of Public Works and Grebe and the scouts, along with other volunteers, erected the play set on Saturday, Sept. 23.

Concrete to stabilize the bases, and a 12-inch layer of special wood chips, will be added this week.

In addition, said Village Manager Jeff Wallace, “There will be a fence put around it, a couple of benches, and post extenders will be put on the outfield fence for protection from baseballs.” The village will contract for these additional safety features.

Grebe’s project will be completed by October 9 to submit paperwork for his final Eagle Scout badge approval.
