Thanks, Great Pumpkin!
It was a cool and damp day for this year’s “Pumpkin Stroll” walk to school last Wednesday, but the Klager kids didn’t seem to mind as they wore their pumpkin headbands. And the rain didn’t even start in earnest until they reached school, so most of the kids didn’t get too wet! They ended their walk with a hidden surprise, thanks to Fusilier Farms–each walker was able to pick out a gourd from the “Gourd Patch” at the end of the walk. It was another great day to walk to school!
Join us each Mooooving Monday and Walk-to-school Wednesday–we have 7:30 a.m. meet ups at the old middle school and at the Wurster Park gazebo, or 7:45 a.m. meet up on the Shared Use Trail at Chi-Bro Park. Walkers who eat breakfast at school will get a head start and the rest will follow shortly behind. These supervised walks are a wonderful way to encourage our kids with the importance of regular exercise.
Thanks to Klager teacher Kathy O’Mara for her contagious enthusiasm for this project, and her dedication to getting the kids excited about walking to school. Other Klager staff who regularly join the crew (along with several community volunteers) include Julie Charney, Sharon Haeussler, Ron Tindall, and Cindy Hanewald.
