State Sen. Joe Hune to speak at PLPOA Annual Meeting
The public is invited to the Pleasant Lake Property Owners Association’s (PLPOA) Annual Meeting on April 8 from 1:30 to 3 pm at Freedom Township Hall, which is located at 11508 E. Pleasant Lake Rd. The meeting will feature guest speaker 22nd District State Senator Joe Hune.
Republican State Sen. Joe Hune was first elected to serve the 22nd Senate District in November 2010 and was re-elected in 2014. He is chairman of Senate Insurance Committee and Agriculture Committee, Vice Chair of Health Policy Committee, and member of Energy and Technology Committee and Regulatory Reform Committee and the Education Committee. Before entering elected office, Joe owned and operated an agribusiness in his hometown of Fowlerville, and he continues to raise livestock and exotic animals on the family farm in Hamburg Township.
Pleasant Lake is the largest lake in the Manchester area. Both its size and its position as the headwaters of Mill Creek which feeds into the Huron River, make it an important battleground in the fight for clean water. Pleasant Lake Property Owners Association is a group on the front lines of this battle and while they operate much with the intent of other property owners associations, they also fight against invasive species, pollution through run-off, and other natural and man-made dangers like pipelines.
Democratic State Representative Donna Lasinski was the featured guest speaker at PLPOA’s fall meeting last September.
