Current and former Detroit Lions players will team up against Manchester faculty and staff for a fund-raising basketball game on April 14.

Former and current members of the Detroit Lions football team will play Manchester Faculty and Staff in a Charity Basketball Game to be held at 7 pm on Saturday, April 14.

This exciting event, a fund-raiser for the Manchester High School Football program, will include a silent auction, free autograph and photo sessions with Lions players at halftime of the game, and plenty of family fun. Lions Greats Herman Moore, Cory Schlesinger, Lomas Brown, Rob Rubick, and Rob Simms are among the players so far confirmed to attend, according to Chad Duffing, who is organizing the community event as an encore to another fund-raiser held in 2014 to benefit the Manchester Youth Football program.

“This was a great thing for our youth football program a few years ago,” said new high school head coach Mike Blumenauer. “Now we are looking to have another good day to raise money for the high school football program, so we can be successful on the field this fall.”

The funds will be used for “anything within the football program,” Blumenauer explained–practice jerseys, pants, equipment, or “whatever we need.” He added that the team is currently looking for a blocking sled, a tackling sled, and weight room equipment.

Admission is $10 per person and tickets are limited to the first 1,000 buyers. Tickets are available at the Village Tap, Steelegrafix, and from football players who are selling them currently. You can also call Blumenauer at 734-368-2548, Jennifer Blumenauer at 734-637-9285, or Chad Duffing, 734-330-8893, to obtain tickets.
