Eight MCS superintendent candidates selected for interviews

At the last regularly scheduled school board meeting, the school board narrowed down the field of superintendent applicants to 8 candidates and scheduled the first round of interviews for Monday, April 9th and Tuesday, April 10th. Four candidates will be interviewed each evening, beginning at 5:30 pm. Interviews will take place in the Nellie Ackerson Building board room, 410 City Road. Each candidate has been allotted 45 minutes for their interview.

The candidates for Manchester Community Schools superintendent who will be interviewed on April 9th are Dr. Corey Helgesen, Superintendent/K12 Principal of Litchfield Schools; Nicholas Steinmetz, Ass’t Superintendent of Gogebic-Ontonagon ISD; Dr. Michael Prelesnik, elementary Principal of Mason Public Schools; and Dr. Mandy Stewart, high school Principal of Petoskey Public Schools. Superintendent candidates who will be interviewed on April 10th are Kevin Upton, Executive Director of Curriculum and Instruction of Lincoln Consolidated Schools; Dr. Jeff Thoenes, high school Principal at Williamston Community Schools; James Baker, Assistant Superintendent of Lakeview Schools; and Scott Riley, Superintendent/K12 Principal of Camden-Frontier Schools.

Questions have been prepared ahead of time by the search firm handling the candidate search process. Interviews are open to the public. After the first round, selected candidates will be invited back for a second round of interviews on April 17.
