Attendees will have the chance to hold animals again this year!

Mark your calendars for 2018 Math & Science Night, coming up on Friday April 20th from 6 to 8 pm at Klager Elementary School. All are welcome to attend and enjoy this free community event that will feature a large number of interesting, local, hands-on museum-quality math and science-focused attractions. For the first time, Math & Science Night will feature Klager’s elementary school level Robotics First Jr. team and Mrs. O’Mara’s class’s projects on “Animal Adaptations of Michigan Animals.” As usual, the event will include exotic animals that can be held or petted and a rocket launch outside at the end of the evening!

Last year, more than 400 attendees got to lift the semi a semi truck in the parking lot using pulleys; planted and took home a strawberry plant; determined experimentally “what is a seed” and what isn’t; learned about the River Raisin; made tessellation art; and watched 5th-graders race CO-powered pinewood derby-style cars. They also shopped at a traveling book fair, made slime, created a marble run, isolated strawberry DNA, pet and read to therapy dogs (Izzy and Zeva), learned about fluoride and enamel experimentally with eggs, manipulated light with mirrors, investigated sound waves at the string instrument petting zoo, and touched pig lungs. Organizers hope to top last year’s event this year!
