Letter to the Editor: Broadband millage best option for internet service in Sharon Township

Hello,

I am writing to voice my support for the Broadband millage proposal.

I support this broadband millage because it is the best option for internet service in this township and the only option that will provide internet to all residents.

The lack of internet access in this township has been a major issue for as long as the internet has been in widespread use. This becomes more of an issue each day as more vital/essential services are moving online and many of the old technologies that people had relied on are being fazed out or removed, as is the case with land line telephones.

We have seen a complete lack of interest shown by the major telecommunications companies in this township, who will not provide reliable service unless they can get an immediate return on investment. This leaves us with very few options for service and while many rely on using their cell phone data to get online, many residents do not get reliable cell service (if any at all) on their property. Also, all of these plans come with data caps or restrictions, which quickly limits many online activities.

If passed, this millage would provide high quality, high-speed broadband internet to all residents in the township. Many residents have been waiting for reliable, fast internet for years and will continue to wait, as long as we don’t take action. This proposal is the only way we are going to have broadband internet in this township and I urge all residents to vote yes. Thank you
