Next Non-profit Roundtable to continue discussion of a potential Manchester Community Center
The Community Resource Center is hosting the next Manchester Area Non-Profit Round Table on Tuesday, May 15, 2018 at 7 pm in the Village Room located at 912 City Road (lower level). All Manchester-area non-profits and churches are invited to send a representative, and any individuals with an interest in this topic are invited to attend.
A Community Center was the topic of the most recent non-profit round table held in January. One primary use of a community center would be to house the Community Resource Center office, food pantry and food storage area. Additional uses discussed included a Worth Repeating-like resale store, a non-profit coffeeshop or diner, a senior center, meeting space, a clothing closet/exchange spot, an emergency shelter (providing heat, water and electricity), a base for the County’s Meals on Wheels program to operate in our area, a transportation hub which could include access to public transportation or a ride-share program, centralized community call center, another event space, and a location for hosting adult social dances and intergenerational activities. A swimming pool is not being considered.
In addition to the discussion of a Manchester Community Center, organizations can give updates on their group’s upcoming events and the possibility of coordinating a shared booth at the Manchester Community Fair will be explored.
