One of Manchester’s great traditions for the past 35 years has been its annual Manchester Area Historical Society calendar. Produced locally and sold by area merchants, these collectible calendars have been popular since their inception.

Since 1984, MAHS has produced an annual historical calendar, featuring some aspect of Manchester area history, as a fundraiser for the society. Themes have included schools, the Civil War, railroads, centennial farms, oral histories, and area businesses. The calendar is usually unveiled at the Manchester Alumni Banquet in June.

Over the years, the format has changed occasionally. At first featuring original artwork by local artist Bill Shurtliff, the calendar has evolved to publishing historic photos as well as business advertising and oral histories of long-time Manchester residents. But at its center, the calendar has always been all about Manchester. The upcoming calendar will focus on more recent history–featuring photos and stories from the end of World War II to the late 1960s.

Advertisers and sponsors are still being sought by the committee. Business card listings are just $50, and friend sponsorships are $25. If you are interested in having a business card listing, or being a supporter of the calendar, please contact one of these members of the calendar committee–Reno Feldkamp (734-428-8571) or Marsha Chartrand (734-474-9518).
