On Wednesday, May 2, the United Methodist Women of the Manchester United Methodist Church located at 501 Ann Arbor Street, are hosting their Annual Salad Smorgasbord. This favorite tradition features a variety of 60+ salads including hot German potato salad, American potato salad, chicken salad, deviled eggs, shrimp salad, pasta salads, jello and other dessert salads. Rolls and beverages are included.

There will be one serving only at noon. Cost is $10 per person, kids 5 – 10 years old are $5 and children under 4 are free. Reservations are necessary for this popular event and can be made by calling the church office at 734-428-8495 on Tuesdays, Wednesdays or Thursdays between 10 am and 2 am or by calling Gladys Uphaus at 734-428-0573. The deadline to make reservations is Friday, April 27. Only 140 reservations can be accepted.

“This is not a formal event,” said spokeswoman Sandy Smith. “Although some folks, such as the Red Hatters, do come all decked out, others dress more casually. We have a group from Grass Lake (about 30 men and women) who call in March every year to make sure they get reservations.”

The United Methodist Women ladies have also put together a new cookbook that includes many of their special Salad Smorgasbord recipes along with other well-loved entrees, appetizers, and desserts. Copies of the book can be purchased that day for $10.

Call to make your reservations today for this fun event featuring a colorful and wide variety of delicious salads – there will be something for everyone’s taste.
