Glenn Carlton Lehr (1934 – 2018)

His Legacy… Glenn Carlton Lehr, Age 83, passed away April 5, 2018. He was born on April 16, 1934, in Grand Rapids, Michigan to Glenn and Nella (Van Ian Waarden) Lehr. Glenn married the love of his life, Maria Rhodes, on January 25, 1959 at his father’s home in Pleasant Lake, Michigan. Glenn served honorably in the U.S. Air Force. He then went on to receive his Doctorate degree in Dentistry and was affectionately known as “Doc Lehr” in Manchester where he practiced for many years. After his retirement he started a new venture, New World Orchids and sold orchids all around the world. He became a world renowned speaker and judge of orchids. He was president of the Ann Arbor Orchid Society. Glenn was a member of the Emanuel United Church of Christ in Manchester. He will be missed by all who knew and loved him.

His Family… Glenn will be missed by his children, Chris (Laura) Lehr, Michael (April) Lehr and Victoria Evans, seven grandchildren, ten great-grandchildren and eleven great-great grandchildren, as well as family in England, Washington D.C., California and extended family in the United Kingdom and New Zealand. He is preceded in death by his parents and a brother Wayne Lehr.

His Farewell… Glenn’s family and friends will gather Saturday, May 5, 2018 from 10:00 am until 12:00 pm at Borek Jennings Funeral Home, Manchester Chapel where his Farewell will be held at 12:00 pm. Rev. Gene Blair will officiate. Memorial contributions are suggested to Community Resource Center in Manchester.
