Bed races, like this one in 2016 have been part of past Street Festivals.

Last week organizers of the most recent Christmas in Village announced that they will be taking on this year’s Manchester Street Festival and that it was on the calendar for Saturday August 4th. While shortly after this announcement the Manchester organizers hit a snag with insurance, things are back on track as they were able to locate an organization to assist. Organizer Jennifer Wojtowicz stated, “The event has been a little bit ‘up in the air’ this week due to some important technicalities of insurance for the entire event. That being said, the Manchester Community Schools Foundation has GRACIOUSLY agreed to help us out in that department … I could not think of a better fit for this event!” One stipulation coming out of the arrangement is that no alcohol can be tied to this event.

Organizers are still looking for volunteers. The next meeting will be held on Tuesday May 15th, at 6:30 pm at 131 Adrian St, downtown Manchester, corner of Adrian and Duncan streets. Can’t make the meeting but want to be involved? Contact organizer Jennifer Wojtowicz at PPSListings@gmail.com or 734-255-0362.
