Paige Bourland holds up her Gold Award, the highest earned award in Girl Scouting, which she recently received in a council ceremony. She earned her Gold Award by organizing and running the Sweet Soles exercise program in Manchester, now entering its 2nd year.

Manchester area Girl Scouts held an area-wide bridging and awards ceremony on Friday evening at Emanuel Church. Organized by the 1st grade Daisy/2nd grade Brownie troop, it was attended by the kindergarten Daisy troop up to Manchester’s 11th grade Girl Scout Ambassadors troop, who started the event with a flag ceremony. The Ambassador troop was the last to present awards to their Scouts and during their presentation, one Ambassador Scout, Paige Bourland gave a short talk about earning her gold award, the highest earned award in Girl Scouting. After the ceremony, scouts and families enjoyed dinner and then dancing upstairs in the gym.

The bridging ceremony is held at the end of a scout’s time at each of the scouting levels and requires the completion of specific bridging requirements. Daisies bridge to Brownies at the end of 1st grade. Brownies bridge to Juniors at the end of 3rd grade. Juniors bridge to Cadettes at the end of 5th grade, Cadettes bridge to Seniors at the end of 8th grade, Seniors bridge to Ambassadors at the end of 10th grade and Ambassadors bridge to Adults at the end of 12th grade.
