Wooden nickels! CRC partnering with Manchester Farmers Market
The Community Resource Center (CRC) will be offering wooden nickels to their food pantry customers to use to purchase fresh produce, honey, and eggs, as well as fruit, veggie, and herb plants during the 2018 market season. These Wooden Nickels are $2 coupons that can be used at participating Manchester Farmers Market vendors’ booths. Look for signs at the booths.
Last year the wooden nickels were available at the CRC office. This year they will be distributed by a CRC volunteer at the Farmers Market. To receive nickels, clients must show a drivers license or ID that shows residency and their yellow food pantry card to the CRC volunteer. Clients can receive up to $10 in Wooden Nickels per week. Note: no change is given back if the item purchased is less than the value of the wooden nickel. Wooden nickels can’t be used on craft items, baked goods, flowers, tea, meat, or maple syrup at this time.
The wooden nickels provide an additional way for low-income households within the Manchester School District to shop for fresh local food every week. They can also shop from the CRC’s entire pantry after they’ve completed proof-of-income forms.
The CRC also has a short list of foods that are available to anyone experiencing an emergency, regardless of where they live or how much money they make. If you are in need of groceries for you or your family, the CRC can lend a hand. Anyone needing food can come to the CRC.
The Community Resource is currently located at 410 City Road but will be moving shortly to its new location in Riverside Intermediate School’s building at 710 East Main Street. During this transition time, it is best to call first at 734-428-7722.
