SASHA Farm Animal Sanctuary hosting Humane Fair
SASHA Farm Animal Sanctuary, located at located at 17901 Mahrle Rd., will host its annual, family-friendly Humane Fair on Sunday, July 22, 2018 from 12-4 pm. Bring your family and friends for an unforgettable experience! This annual, family-friendly event offers attendees the opportunity to connect with local animal advocacy groups, meet SASHA Farm animal residents on guided tours, and enjoy a delicious, vegan buffet lunch under the tent on the beautiful SASHA Farm grounds, catered by The Moveable Feast Catering. There will also be a vegan bake sale (for which they will be accepting donations of vegan baked goods), and the opportunity to buy SASHA Farm merchandise including some brand new shirts and hoodies.
Some of the animal advocacy groups who will have tables at the event include: Animals & Society Institute, Bird Center of Washtenaw County, All Species Kinship (A.S.K.), Windsor-Detroit Farm Animal Save, VegMichigan, Northwest Ohio Vegan Advocates, Attorneys for Animals and Run Woodstock-Charles Leister. Special this year will be a presentation delivered by SASHA’s Brece Clark, speaking as the Humane Cowboy. Clark is a former professional horse trainer and event rider, but has now taken a platform against many horse training methods, and will speak about the ethics of riding horses from 1-2 pm. There will also be a demonstration by the local chapter of Anonymous for the Voiceless.
Tickets are available on the SASHA Farm website or at the door; $30 for adults, $15 for children under 10, and free for children 5 and under. This is a rain or shine event. SASHA Farm, located here in Manchester, is the Midwest’s largest farmed animal sanctuary with over 250 animal residents including cows, pigs, sheep, goats, chickens, turkeys, equines, and other animals. Founded by Manchester residents Dorothy Davies and Monte Jackson, SASHA Farm started rescuing animals in the 1980s and became a registered 501(c)(3) non-profit in 2001. SASHA provides lifetime care to farmed animals formerly destined for slaughter or who were abused, neglected, abandoned, or no longer able to be cared for.
