Phyllis Carolyn Baker (August 26, 1926 – June 28, 2018)

Phyllis Carolyn Baker, age 91, passed away peacefully on June 28, 2018 with her son, Jim, at her side.

She was born August 26,1926 in Manchester Michigan, the daughter of Phillip and Ella (Miller) Kern. She married James H. Baker on, August 24, 1946 at Emanuel United Church of Christ in Manchester. Phyllis retired in 1992 from Double A Products and Vickers Inc. after 43 years of service. She was a lifelong member of Emanuel United Church of Christ in Manchester, and a member of the American Legion Auxiliary Unit 117, 8 & 40, Salon 501 and the Manchester Senior Citizens. She served the Manchester community on many boards and committees throughout her adult life. She enjoyed bowling, golf, playing cards, and keeping books for several organizations. She was preceded in death by her husband and parents.

Phyllis is survived by her son, James (Joyce) Baker of Mt. Pleasant; a special friend and neighbor, Kari Gregerson of Manchester; cousins, Allen (Florence) Kern and Ethel Kern McKee, both of Adrian, and Richard Kern of Cocoa, Florida.

Phyllis’ family and friends will gather on Monday, July 2, 2018 from 2-4 PM and 6-8 PM at Borek Jennings Funeral Home: Manchester Chapel (207 E. Duncan St. Manchester, MI 48158). Phyllis’ Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, July 3, 2018 with a gathering beginning at 10 AM and the service to start at 11 AM at Emanuel United Church of Christ (324 W. Main St. Manchester, MI 48158) with Rev. Gene Blair officiating.
