HERBfest at the Farmers Market

This Thursday, July 26, the Manchester Farmers Market will be holding HERBFest from 3:30 to 7 pm at Chi-Bro Park. Farmers Market manager Laura Wohlgemuth described HERBfest: “HERBFest is all about educating the public on the many fascinating ways to use herbs for cooking and for health! The Herb Fairy will be our special guest for HERBFest! Come get your picture taken with our beautiful Herb Fairy! The Herb Fairy will have pictures of herb fairies to color, share her knowledge of herbs, pass out herb samples, and host a Plantain Walk! We will have a recipe packet featuring recipes using many different herbs. We will also have free oregano – both oregano plants and fresh oregano- and an Herbal Scavenger Hunt! Participants will be entered into a drawing for an Herbal Gift Basket!”

The Farmers Market vendors also will feature herbs during HERBFest. Two Black Sheep will use thyme, oregano, mint, parsley, cilantro in their delicious menu of chicken tortilla soup, chili dogs, chips, and beverages. The Marks Trading Company will have about 50 different dried herb and spice blends ready to use for all of your culinary needs. Michigami Magpie Farm will have lime basil, chamomile, sage, peppermint, a little dill, Mexican oregano and a few other miscellaneous herbs also a few young strawberry mint, orange mint & chocolate mint starts. Marks Farm will have herb plants, including two varieties of mint, parsley, rosemary, marjoram, and more at a special HERBFest price – only $1 each. Frog Hollar Farms LLC will have fresh herbs for sale including Oregano, Basil, Thyme, Cilantro, Horseradish, multiple varieties of Sage, and more. Sensationally Simple Scents will have Lemongrass soap, Eucalyptus Spearmint Rosemary soap, Lavender soap and more. Cathy will have her delicious Rosemary bread as well as Basil focaccia and more. Carlandia Farms will have fresh cut flowering herb and flower bouquets. And Flo’s Bakery will be making a special herbal treat especially for HERBFest!
