Friends of Marie Knorpp celebrated her active life at a special coffee hour in her honor August 26, at Manchester United Methodist Church. Pictured with Marie are Sandy Smith, Laura Tallman, and Connie Priess.

Marie Knorpp is pictured surrounded by her family, and the photo on the cake shows her bowling. In addition, she has golfed on a Manchester women’s league since 1954.

If you’re looking for proof that regular activity can lead to longevity, you don’t need to look any further than “just down Main Street,” where Marie Knorpp lives.

Marie  was honored by her family and her church family at a special coffee hour held Sunday, Aug. 26, for her many years of participating in and enjoying sports–including 64 years of playing on the same golf league, even while pregnant with one of her children!

Marie is still going strong at 98 years young. She’s the oldest and longest member of Manchester United Methodist Church–and has been a member for 83 years.

“What is truly amazing about Marie is her gumption!” said Jody Sharrow, secretary at MUMC. “She still attends church most Sundays and is a fixture at our Christmas in the Village and our Salad Smorgasbord.”

This year, Marie also served as a hostess for the church’s famed Salad Smorgasbord.

A photo on the cake created for the occasion shows Marie bowling on a league–also back in the 1950s–more proof of her long-standing love of sports.

Family and friends enjoyed celebrating Marie’s continued active life and sharing stories with this special woman. She was also gifted with a golfer statue from her church family.

Congratulations, Marie! Your family, friends, and community celebrate your accomplishments with you.
