At last Wednesday’s Village Council meeting, Chad Wiebesick, VP of Marketing and Communication for Destination Ann Arbor (formerly the Washtenaw County Convention and Visitor’s Bureau) made a brief presentation to describe how the organization has promoted activities and events throughout the greater Ann Arbor area.

Destination Ann Arbor is the sponsoring organization for the Community Tourism Action Plan (CTAP), which has provided $50,000 in grants to Manchester projects, including last year’s Sesquicentennial celebration, the historical information plaques scattered throughout the village, and also various brochures and a vast community website upgrade.

The 165,000 copies of the Ann Arbor Area Visitors Guide distributed at MDOT welcome centers and at Detroit Metro Airport, is the most picked-up visitor guide in the state, Wiebesick noted, and features a variety of Manchester attractions, such as Alber Orchard & Cider Mill, the Chicken Broil, Sharon Mills County Park, and the Kingsley-Jenter House. Events and festivals around the Manchester area are also regularly featured on the events calendar found at DestinationAnnArbor.org.

Through a partnership with Pure Michigan, the nations #1 most visited state tourism website, Destination Ann Arbor has promoted many of Manchester’s events and attractions to a statewide and national audience.

Local event planners are invited to contact Destination Ann Arbor to get promotional information presented on their website. Wiebesick can be reached at cwiebesick@annabor.org or 734-483-4444.
