Obituary: Fred Zimmer
Fred Zimmer of Manchester, Michigan passed away unexpectedly at the age of 80 on Wednesday, September 5, 2018. He was born the son of John and Victoria (Zurek) Zimmer on March 14, 1938, in Ann Arbor, MI. On May 1, 1970, he married Kathleen A. McInerney and she survives. After graduating Pioneer High School in 1958 he joined the Air Force and served from 1959-1963. He was a realtor in the Ann Arbor area for 30 years. Prior to his real estate career, he was an electrical designer for Hoover Universal in Saline and Manchester and then Johnson Controls in Manchester. Having grown up down the street from Michigan Stadium he had many memories of attending University of Michigan football games with family and friends over the years. He moved to Manchester in 1973 and loved the area and people. He was a do-it-yourself person who always had a project going and loved to keep busy. He loved animals big and small and had many pets over the years that he missed greatly.
He was a loving husband, father, and grandfather. In addition to his wife, he is survived by his daughter, Connie (Kevin) Creech of Dexter, MI along with his grandchild: Anna Creech. Also surviving are his brother, Ted Zimmer of Ann Arbor, MI and sister, Mary Smalley of Inverness, Fl. His sister, Patricia Wetherbee, preceded him in death. He has many nieces and nephews that have brought him great joy over the years.
