The Washtenaw County Clerk/Register’s office is pleased to announce that the first of a four-part, nonpartisan video series designed to educate voters about the Michigan registration and voting process is now available on the County’s YouTube channel. The first part of this series is titled “How to Register to Vote in Michigan.” Other parts of the series to be released over the coming weeks will help voters prepare to vote, request an absentee ballot, and cast a ballot at the polls on Election Day. (Click here to watch or search “Washtenaw County Government” on YouTube.com)

According to Washtenaw County Clerk, Larry Kestenbaum, “Everyone is encouraged to take a moment to watch the first part of the series and share it as they feel appropriate.  We would like to reach all potential voters; however, the video is primarily geared towards voters in their teens to early twenties.”

While the target audience is younger voters new to the voting process, the information is useful for all voters–those in Washtenaw County as well as those elsewhere in the state. Each video will present factual, nonpartisan information about the voting process in a fun, engaging way. The videos are concise and designed to be shared via social media.

“We are actively promoting the series via the County and Clerk/Register’s office social media platforms, websites, and with the organizations we partner with in conducting election activities.  We are eager to spread the word prior to the November 6, 2018 General Election voter registration deadline on October 9th,” explains Ed Golembiewski, Director of Elections/Chief Deputy Clerk.

The series was created in partnership between the Washtenaw County Elections Division and a talented team of community members.
