The Manchester Downtown Development Authority (DDA) announced last week the creation of the Downtown Beautification Award!

The DDA explained that they want to recognize the Village of Manchester businesses, nonprofits, and churches whose property reflects their community pride “through upgrades to the physical appearance of their storefronts, enhancing the atmosphere and aesthetics of the village.”

Anyone in the local area can nominate a business, nonprofit, or church to win a beautification award. Nomination forms can be downloaded here: dda nomination form or at the Chamber of Commerce website at 48158.com. Hard copies also can be picked up at River Raisin Antiques at 138 E. Main Street. Forms should be mailed to P.O. Box 477, Manchester, Mi 48158, or dropped off at River Raisin Antiques. You may also email your nomination to riverraisinantiques@gmail.com.

Each month, the DDA board will review the list of candidates and call for a vote. The remaining candidates will be considered for future awards. Each winning recipient will receive a custom award to display along with promotional exposure through The Manchester Mirror, online marketing, social media, and the community website.

Any physical improvement that has an impact on the aesthetics of our village: from a business remodel, to new awnings, paint, flower boxes, etc. can qualify for this award. The DDA stated, “By working together, we all contribute to the success of our community.”

For as little as $1 a month, you can keep Manchester-focused news coverage alive.
