The Fire Department led off the parade on a rainy Friday evening.

Members of the homecoming court also participated.

Bus drivers supported the homecoming parade.

A chilly and rainy Friday afternoon could not dispel the Dutch spirit that had been building throughout the week at Manchester High School.

A week filled with Spirit events based on a tropical theme elicited plenty of creativity from the students, said Student Council adviser Leslie Rollins. The results were as follows: fourth place, sophomores; third place, freshmen; second place, juniors; and first place, the senior class of 2019.

The revival of the Homecoming Parade after a several-year hiatus brought out hundreds of participants, volunteers, and spectators along the parade route.

Youth football players, Volleyball, cheerleaders, the homecoming court, Cross Country teams, the high school band, and many more braved the cold and rain to cheer on the Flying Dutchmen at the parade as well as at the game, where the Dutch prevailed over Hanover Horton, 27-12.

Manchester volleyball teams from middle school through high school also participated in Friday’s parade!

The Homecoming king and queen were crowned at halftime, with Carson Ridenour and Stephanie Messman winning the coveted titles.

Freshman court members were Addie Hiller and Brady McGuigan; sophomores were represented by Mallory DuRussel and Zach Wiseman; and the junior class selected Rylee Spitler and Braeden Caszatt as their delegates.

Senior homecoming candidates included Avery Collins, Rayna Edwards, Stephanie Messman, and Jayden Humphrey; Reese Dresch, Carson Ridenour, Grant Tungate, and Luther Westcott.

The MHS marching band showed up in uniforms and rain ponchos.
