Washtenaw County Parks and Recreation is hosting an upcoming volunteer opportunity, “Preservation of a Sedge Meadow,” at Watkins Lake State Park & County Preserve, from 1-3 pm on Saturday, November 10 at the Watkins Lake County Preserve.

Watkins Lake State Park and County Preserve is home to a wetland system containing sedge meadow and fen communities. We need your help in removing invasive shrubs like Autumn Olive that are encroaching on this fine ecosystem.

Meet at the park entrance on Arnold Road (a State Recreation Passport is required). This workday will be led by Stewardship Coordinator, Katie Carlisle. Snacks, gloves and water will be provided.

No previous experience is necessary; but please be prepared for working off-trail. For questions, please email carlislec@washtenaw.org or call (734) 971-6337 x334.
