Manchester Sesquicentennial Clock is installed
Submitted by Ray Berg
On Tuesday, October 30, the Manchester Area Historical Society installed the Verdin Post Clock on the lawn of the Kingsley-Jenter House at 302 E. Main Street. This historic-appearing clock is the commemorative memorial to our Sesquicentennial celebration held in August 2017.
It was purchased with funds raised from our many sponsors and donors, as well as proceeds from ticketed events held during the celebration. The clock notes Manchester’s incorporation as a village in 1867. The clock is lit at night, and has a GPS control to automatically set and hold the correct time. The clock will be supplemented by a historic plaque to be placed near the front sidewalk to the Kingsley-Jenter House, and will list the Sesquicentennial events and donors, as well as providing a history of the Kingsley-Jenter House property from 1833 forward.
Our thanks to The Verdin Company for their installation skills, as well as J. Proctor Co. for providing equipment and support, and to Stein Electric and John Schaible Masonry for site prep work.
