Manchester Library dedicates artist showcase to late local resident
submitted by Tamara Denby, Manchester District Library
This November, Manchester lost a beloved local artist and long-time library supporter and patron, Maureen Iott Salazar. Maureen was known to be helpful and friendly, with a warm disposition, as well as a creative and talented artist. Her works, as well as fond memories of her, are treasured by many, including the Manchester District Library staff.
In honor of her passing, the library has dedicated this year’s Local Artist Showcase to Maureen, who has coordinated the annual event in years past. Along with a collection of her works, this year’s showcase and sale features works by other prominent local artists, including David Nelson, Margaret Shaw, Helen Fisher, Lynn Doyle, and many others. Not all pieces are for sale, but rest assured there is a wide variety available for purchase. Items for sale include works of pottery, jewelry, note cards, photography, and Christmas ornaments. In addition, the library is showcasing a display of holiday quilts by members of the local quilting guild, Black Sheep Quilters.
Come to the library and find a special one-of-a-kind gift for a loved one. Or just take in the colorful scenery that the art and quilt display add to the library during this holiday season.
