New email scam involving gift cards defrauding businesses

The Washtenaw County Sheriff’s Office has taken several reports of a detailed Email SCAM for Businesses. The SCAM is as Follows:
Unknown suspects send an email to an employee purporting to be their “Boss” requesting the employee purchase gift and/or Google cards for the company using a company credit card or the employee’s personal credit card assuring the employee they would be reimbursed by the company. The suspects request the employee to photograph the back of the purchased cards and text or email the photographs and receipts for the purchases to unknown phone numbers and email addresses. Money has been defrauded from several companies in Washtenaw County.
