Paul Whelan, son of Manchester residents Ed & Rosemary Whelan, has been the subject of international controversy recently as it was announced that he is being held in a Russian prison. His family is working to bring him home but is asking for help.

In a message from his sister Elizabeth they state, “We are working hard to secure his release, and have many helpers in the Congress and State Dept. — however with the number of issues on their plates, we have to ask our friends to help amplify the message. If you could sign the White House petition… share it with your friends, and call your Senators and Representative about this matter, that would be extremely helpful.”

The petition asking that the Congress, the State Department, and the White House request the immediate release of Paul Whelan needs 100,000 signatures before February 9, in order to get a response from the White House. It currently has 450.

You can help the Whelen family by signing this petition. The petition is located at https://petitions.whitehouse.gov/petition/free-paul-whelan .
