St. Thomas Spaghetti Dinner Fundraiser

St. Thomas Lutheran Church is hosting a spaghetti dinner on Saturday, February 9th from 5 to 7:30 pm benefiting Dr. Kim Jackson. The dinner will be held at Freedom Township Hall, located at 11508 E. Pleasant Lake Rd. Dinner is “all you can eat” and will include spaghetti, salad, garlic bread, and dessert. Meals are $10 for adults and $5 for kids (12 & under), and can be eaten in or taken out. There will also be baked goods and paintings for sale.

Jackson was diagnosed at Christmastime of 2017 with cancer of the tonsil and soft palate. She underwent seven weeks of chemotherapy and radiation treatments, requiring a feeding tube for months. This single mom of two adopted daughters was shocked at how long it took to recover and it was well into 2018 before Kim was able to work again.

During Kim’s treatments, her daughters were in a car accident that totaled her van. The girls were okay, but it left the family with limited transportation and the need to purchase another vehicle. These unexpected events have exhausted the family resources; this fund-raiser will help to defray the cost of Kim’s medical expenses.
