Manchester High School recently announced that it has been awarded a grant by the Manchester Community Schools Foundation to bring in a new mentorship program to the school, Link Crew.

Link Crew is a student leadership/mentor program designed to help younger students transition into high school. High school principal Eric McCalla explained that two teachers will be trained in March and they will then train about 20 juniors and seniors from the student body in August who will be assigned as mentors for groups of 7th and 9th graders. 7th graders are new arrivals to building and 9th graders are entering their freshman year.

The juniors and seniors will be “Link Crew Leaders” who will act as positive role models, motivators, student mentors and teachers. Their role will be to help guide the younger students to discover what it takes to be successful during their high school transition
