New literacy center at the library for earliest readers
Karen Seghers of the Manchester District has created a new “Literacy center” in the youth area of the library. The literacy center is meant for parents and grandparents of pre-K and kindergarten-aged children to work together with their young learners to develop the skills needed for reading. The literacy center supplies are meant to be used at the library, can not be checked out, and must be used with an adult. Seghers has early literacy books to go along with the literacy center that are available on request.
The literacy center has grown out of the work Seghers has been doing with local students. She has been reading the first Thursday of every month to all of the students at Manchester Early Childhood Center and Klager Elementary School, and wanted to provide an extra resource for those students and their families at the library.
