Abi Swanson celebrated her 60th day of walking this school year–which coincided with the 60th Walk to School Day this year! She is pictured with Kathy O’Mara (left) and Ruth VanBogelen.

Mooovin’ Mondays. Walk to School Wednesdays. Fabulous Fridays. Week after week after week!

On Friday, March 8, fourth-grader Abi Swanson reached a significant walking milestone with the Walk to School program. She has made it to every single Walk to School Day this school year, and earned her prize for 60 days of walking.

Abi has been one of the “regulars” in the Walk to School program for at least two years, since the meeting place is at Wurster Park (right across the street from her house!) She has made it her goal to walk to school each day that there’s a Walk to School Day. And at this point, she is well on her way to achieving that goal.

Whether it’s rainy, cold, snowy, windy, or sunny, you’ll find Abi walking … usually accompanied by several others, but on one or two occasions she has been the only student walker to meet up at Wurster Park.

It’s great to have such dedicated young people in the community who are supporting exercise and good physical health. We’re all proud of you, Abi!
