Manchester–village or city?

At its April 23 meeting, the Citizens Advisory Committee organized to research the process of the Village of Manchester possibly becoming a city, set its schedule for the next few meetings.

The committee will continue to meet twice a month until its work is complete, hoping to keep a momentum going so that the process is not unduly extended. A list of Frequently Asked Questions will be developed and posted to the Village website, along with minutes of each meeting of the Advisory Committee. The next meeting will be held at 7 pm May 7, in the Village Council chambers on the lower level at 912 City Road.

While all meetings of the Advisory Committee are open to the public, the committee decided to extend an open invitation to all residents at its May 21 meeting, which will also begin at 7 pm in the Council chambers, so the committee can listen to resident questions and concerns about the process of becoming a city. Last Tuesday’s meeting included a simple presentation by attorney Mariah Fink about the process of becoming a city, as well as discussion of financial issues that need to be addressed.

Representatives from the Sharon and Manchester Township boards, as well as village residents, attended the meeting.
