The Manchester High School Alumni Association awarded scholarships totaling $18,450 to a dozen recent MHS graduates at their annual banquet on Saturday evening.

Scholarships from the MHSAA are based on academic records, economic need, and community service. This year’s winners were: Elizabeth O’Hotzke, who received the Marian Voegeding Valedictorian Scholarship and a MHSAA Scholarship; Paige Bourland and Luther Westcott also received MHSAA scholarships. Ellen Walkowe was awarded the Jean M. Ahrens Hieber Memorial Scholarship.

The Stautz scholarship, in memory of Ted and Norma Wurster Stautz, was awarded to Mitchell Ernst. Five scholarships of $1,000 each were awarded on behalf of the Kirk family, to Gillian Bross, Hannah Foltz, Katie Pohs, Emma Mrocko, and Erin Thompson.

The Class of 1969 scholarship, donated in memory of deceased classmates, was presented to Rayna Edwards. And the MHSA Civic Club scholarship, in recognition of the Manchester Civic Club’s contributions to the community, was presented to Jayden Humphrey.

Donations to the MHSAA scholarship funds can be made by mail to the Manchester HS Alumni Association, PO Box 254, Manchester, MI 48158.
