The Washtenaw County Sheriff’s Office is holding a Community Open House Event. Please join them on Saturday June 22, 2019 noon-3 pm at 2201 Hogback Rd, Ann Arbor, MI  48105

The Washtenaw County Sheriff’s Office has again received increased reports of phone and email SCAMS within our communities, purported to be from Washtenaw County Sheriff’s Office employees. The suspect(s) of these SCAMS say they are employed by the Washtenaw County Sheriff’s Office and may use a current employee’s name, phone number and/or similar email address. The suspect “scammer” then requires the receiver to send money, purchase gift cards or otherwise GIVE financial support to the “scamming” suspect.

The scammers often threaten the receivers, saying they will go to jail or be arrested if they do not comply with sending them gift cards, cash and/or other financial compensation. The Washtenaw County Sheriff’s Office Does Not and Will Not ask for money, gift cards or financial compensation to be given specifically to ANY individual employee. Please verify all phone and email communications purportedly from the Sheriff’s Office through the Washtenaw County Sheriff’s Office Metro Dispatch; 734-994-2911 or 911. Please do not provide any personal or financial information to these scammers.
