On Thursday, July 11, from 3:30 to 4:30 pm, St. Joseph Mercy Chelsea and the Washtenaw County Health Department will attend the Manchester Farmers Market (at Chi-Bro Park in Manchester) to register participants for this year’s Senior Market Bucks and Senior Project FRESH programs. These programs were developed to encourage seniors to make healthy food choices.

This summer marks the third year that St. Joseph Mercy Chelsea and Washtenaw County Health Department have teamed up to register seniors for these coupon programs in western Washtenaw County.

Coupons are available for Washtenaw County residents 60 years of age and older to purchase local foods at participating farmers markets. Additional program-specific qualifications may apply. Senior Project FRESH coupons can be used to purchase unprocessed Michigan-grown fresh fruits, vegetables, and herbs, as well as honey. Senior Market Bucks can be used to purchase fresh fruits, vegetables, eggs, cheese, milk, yogurt, meat, poultry, fish, and honey.

The last day to use coupons from either program is October 31, 2019.

For more information about the Senior Market Bucks or the Senior Project FRESH programs, please call St. Joe’s Chelsea at 734-593-5281.
