To the Editor:

After 122 years, the Widmayer home will be under new ownership when that door gets opened next.

As I sit here in front of it before pulling away for the last time (I’m not crying, you’re crying) I remember coming here as a little girl, visiting my great grandparents, excited to receive the yearly diamond shaped slippers my grandma made. And then moving here in 7th grade and making it our home. All the holidays, birthdays, parades, chicken broils, and my high school graduation. To my husband proposing to me in the back yard, to raising all my babies, watching them have all their firsts here, all of them asking Jesus in their hearts here, and of course all of my porch swinging.

This is the end of the Widmayer home.

A new chapter for the Penney’s is beginning and though I am sad to see this house go, I will hold on dearly to the memories I have made here.

Huge thank you to Leslie Vargo Naebeck for lending us her truck and trailer and to my mom and dad for keeping the boys while we moved, letting us sleep there and feeding us.

It’s gonna be a crazy ride the next few months but I’m excited to see where God takes us!
