The Lucy Wolcott Barnum Daughters of the American Revolution Chapter will present Famous First Ladies of the United States on Sunday, November 10th, at 2 pm at the Governor Croswell Tea Room located at 125 East Maumee Street, Adrian. It will cost is $25 per person to attend. Seating is limited and reservations are required. To make a reservation call 313-300-1672. Manchester’s own Betty Cummings will portray Mrs. Ulysses S. Grant.

Mrs. Grant, born Julia Dent who was born in 1826 and died in 1902, is fascinating for her strongly held but seemingly contradictory views on slavery and women’s rights as well as her role in her husband’s presidency and her efforts to make “First Lady” a respected position itself.
