Robert Keith Trent, Sr. (1923 – 2019)

His Legacy… Robert Keith Trent, Sr., Age 96, passed away July 13, 2019. He was born on July 6, 1923, in North Salem, Indiana to Carson and Grace (Steadman) Trent. Bob married the love of his life, Lucille Steele, on August 18, 1945, in Manchester, Michigan. Bob served honorably in the U.S. Army during WWII with the 44th Infantry division, which was part of General Patton’s unit. He went on to work as a foreman with Union Construction until his retirement. Bob was a member of the Manchester American Legion, Post 117 and a lifelong member of the Chelsea VFW and a member of the Jackson Sportsman’s club. He loved trapshooting and hunting small game. He enjoyed running the Bingo games at the Manchester Sportsman’s Club for many years. He adored his wife and family, especially the great-grandchildren. He will be remembered as a loving husband, father and grandfather, and will be missed by all who knew and loved him.

His Family… Bob will be missed by his son Robert “Bob” Trent, Jr., daughter Sherry Barker, granddaughters, Michelle (Don), Cheryl (Eric) and great-grandchildren Violet, Georgia, Archer and Harrison, brother in-law Charles Steele and many nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his parents, wife Lucille, brother Alva “Jake” Trent and two sisters Kathleen Longhorst and Mayme Gard.

His Farewell… Bob’s family and friends will gather Tuesday, July 16, 2019 from 4:00 – 8:00 pm at Borek Jennings Funeral Home, Manchester Chapel. His Community Farewell will be held on Wednesday, July 17, 2019 at 11:00 am at Emanuel United Church of Christ, 324 W. Main St., Manchester, where he will lie in state from 10:00 am until time of service. Rev. Chris Kurtz will serve as celebrant.
