Manchester Boys Basketball 2019 Summer Camps a success!
Manchester Basketball Youth Camps just wrapped up for the summer. The camp held July 9th – July 11th for 6th to 8th graders and July 16th – July 18th for 4th and 5th graders was held in Riverside Intermediate School’s Gymnasium and had a total of 26 participants.
Camps focused on defense and offense fundamental skills in a competitive and fun atmosphere and were designed to stress fundamentals and stir a interest in the game. Activities included Daily Dozen Drills or Boot Camp Cycles, Daily Player Progress Reports, Competitive Contests, Fundamental Station Work, Guest Speakers, a Written Quiz and Individual Instruction. All participants received; Player Progress Report, T-Shirt and Basketball Player Booklet.
In addition to Director Mike Ahrens, the camp was staffed by Coach Jack Ignash, Coach Nick Niehaus, Guest Coach Glen Marks, and Varsity Players including Braeden Caszatt, Joe Rogowski, Owen Rogowski, Jeff Carpenter, Ian Penberthy and Ryan Mann.
Ahrens stated, “The detailed camp agenda required listening skills and emphasized daily “improvement”. Individual improvement was evident in a high percent of progress reports. Progress reports included 6 areas of the game. Overall the camps were a success. ”
