Summer reading may be over, but that doesn’t mean there’s nothing going on at the Manchester District Library.

The library staff is already looking ahead, toward the start of the 2019/2020 school year. (Do we hear some kids groaning?) On a related note, the library is running its annual School Supply Drive this month. Bring in your new school supply donations during regular library hours. Supplies will be delivered on September 3rd to Manchester schools for use in the classrooms.

In addition, the library has also requested both books and DVDs for the AP English “Read, Watch, Listen” summer reading assignment. Items are displayed next to the circulation desk and can be checked out with a Manchester District Library card.

Lastly, unrelated to the start of school, there will be a very special Maker Night planned for August. On Aug. 22 at 3:30 pm, local artisan David W. Nelson will be teaching students how to make a slab coffee mug. As always, this program is open to all members of our community, there is no cost to participate, and all materials are provided. However, registration is required. Please register online by visiting the following URL (tinyurl.com/DWNPottery), or register in person at the circulation desk.

Continuing this month are the Once Upon a Time book group for children ages 5 to 8 (Mondays at 4 pm), preschool story time (Wednesdays at 10:30 am), knit night (Wednesdays at 6:30 pm), writing support group (Aug 7 at 5 pm), beekeeping club (Aug 19 at 6:30 pm) and Make & Take (Aug 28 at 6:30 pm).

The Manchester District Library is committed to providing a destination for all our community members, not just library card holders. All programming and services, including summer reading, story time, book groups, and workshops are open to the public. A library card is not required to attend or participate.
