NOTICE OF ADOPTION OF ZONING ORDINANCE AMENDMENTS
During a regular meeting on 1-Aug-19, the Bridgewater Township Board of Trustees adopted Ordinance No. 67-4, by authority of the Michigan Zoning Enabling Act (Public Act 110 of 2006, MCL 125.3101 et. seq., as amended), to amend Article 2 (Zoning Districts), Section 2.02 (Prohibited Uses); Article 4.0 (Land Use Table); Article 5.0 (Use Standards); Article 12.0 (Off-Street Parking and Loading); Article 16.0 (Nonconformities); and Article 19.0 (Definitions) of Zoning Ordinance No. 67.
The purposes of these amendments are to add provisions for medical marihuana qualifying patients and primary caregivers, as defined in and regulated by the Michigan Medical Marihuana Act (Initiated Law 1 of 2008, as amended, MCL 333.26421 et seq.), consistent with established case law; to confirm that recreational marihuana establishments, as defined in and regulated by the Michigan Regulation and Taxation of Marihuana Act (Initiated Law 1 of 2018, MCL 333.27951 et seq.), are prohibited land uses consistent with Ordinance No. 71; to confirm that medical marihuana growers and provisioning centers, as defined in and regulated by the Medical Marihuana Facilities Licensing Act (Public Act 281 of 2016, as amended, MCL 333.27101 et seq.), are also prohibited land uses; to add medical marihuana processors, safety compliance facilities, and secure transporters, also as defined in and regulated by the Medical Marihuana Facilities Licensing Act, as allowable land uses in the LI (Light Industrial) zoning district, subject to site plan approval and compliance with associated Township and state licensing requirements; and to add medical marihuana facility use standards and associated marihuana-related definitions to the Ordinance.

The adopted amendments shall become effective on the eighth day following publication of this notice of adoption, unless referendum procedures are initiated under MCL 125.3402. If referendum procedures are initiated under MCL 125.3402, the ordinance shall take effect in accordance with MCL 125.3402.
