It’s hard to believe, but summer is already winding down. You know what that means…? Yes, that’s right, the kids are heading back in school (did I hear a “woo hoo,” or was that a “boo hoo?”)

No matter how you feel about school, the Manchester District Library staff is ready for some early autumn fun! Here at the library, fun equals celebrating. This month, the library will be celebrating “National Library Card Sign-up Month.” There may even be a prize for signing up for a new library card! Please see the front desk for details.

In addition, in September the library will be continuing our popular perennial programs, including: Once Upon a Time Book Club (Mondays at 4 pm), Writer’s Support Group (Sept. 4 at 5 pm), weekly story time (Wednesdays at 10:30 am), knit nights (Wednesdays at 6:30 pm), Beekeeping (Sept. 16 at 6:30 pm) and Computer Basics (Sept. 24 at 1 pm).

Resuming for the fall are the Family History Guild meeting (Sept. 17 6:30 pm) and lock in (Sept. 21 at 2 pm), the Adult Book Discussion Group (Sept. 18 at 7 pm) and the Comerica Bank series, (Managing Your Credit Score, Sept. 25 at 6 pm).

Last, but not least, this month’s Maker Night will be Thursday, Sept. 19 at 3:30 pm: “What’s Inside? Tech Take Apart.” Have you or your child ever wondered what’s inside the electronic gadgets collecting dust in your basement, garage or shed? Find out at this hands-on electronics take-apart event. We provide the broken/discarded appliances, safety goggles, and tools. You provide the muscle … and the curiosity.

More great programs are always in the works. You won’t want to miss out! Sign up for our weekly newsletter for the most up-to-date list of events and activities. Signing up is easy. Go to: https://www.subscribepage.com/MDLNewsletter, enter your email address, and hit the big red button to subscribe.

One last reminder: the library will be closed September 1 and 2 for Labor Day.
